Who is going to be the Misty Copeland of opera? They may be from this production. The talent developed in these productions is going to seed opera into our communities.
America’s most famous ballerina, Misty Copeland, is African American. Something big is going to develop out of this. We’ve always been around, but opera in the Americas doesn’t get any bigger than The Metropolitan Opera. We are witnessing the birth of American Jazz Opera as a legitimate operatic form.
